Control Valves

The control valve can be furnished as an integral part of a mass flow controllers, a pressure controller, or as a separate component. It is a proportional, electro magnetic control valve with extremely fast and smooth flow control characteristics. With reference to the specific fields of application there are different series of unique Bronkhorst High-Tech control valves.

Direct acting valves (Series F-001)

These valves consist of a valve module that is mounted inside or on a base block. The base block may constitute a separate control valve F-001 or an MFC / EPC suitable for low flow rates (up to approx. 50 l_n/min N₂-equivalent) with pressure ratings up to 100 bar. The valve module is also used as pilot valve in bigger valves and controllers.

Vary-P valves (Series F-033, F-042)

These are patented 2-phase control valves for applications with high (differential) pressures, up to 700 bar! The flow control section is the valve module as described above. The other section is a pressure compensation valve; the latter maintains a constant pressure difference across the first section of 4 bar. By doing so both the inlet pressure and the outlet pressure may change without having any impact on the Vary-P valve function.

Pilot-operated valves (Series F-002A, F-003A, F-003B)

are patented indirect acting control valves suitable for high flow rates, up to 500 m³_n/h N₂-equivalent. They use a complete Vary-P valve as described above, as pilot valve. Hence they are also pressure compensated. The pilot controls the pressure on the back side of a spring loaded cylinder, of which the front side is subject to the inlet pressure of the main valve. This cylinder furnishes the power for the main valve. As soon as the delta-P becomes bigger than the spring force, the main valve, will open.

Powerful direct acting valves (Series F-002B)

Compact control valves for medium flow rates with diaphragm for pressure compensation, due to which it can cope with higher flow rates than above mentioned F-001 series (up to 600 l_n/min N₂-equivalent), although the dimensions are just slightly larger. Pressure rating up to 40 bar.

Pressure compensated bellow valves (Series F-004)

are direct acting control valves as the above mentioned F-001 series. They are also closed by spring force. A bellows compensates the closing force acting on the plunger to such a degree that only a very small magnetic force is required and in this way large orifices can be opened, which is impossible in the F-001 design as it would cause oscillation. The bellows pressure compensated design, however, enables us to smoothly control large flows at extremely low pressures.

Powerful direct acting valves (Series C5I)

For liquid flow applications with higher flow rates and pressure rating up to 100 bar, Bronkhorst designed the control valve model C5I, however the control valve may also be used for gas flow appplications. The C5I control valve is directly operated by a magnetic coil with IP65 (weatherproof) housing and is closed when de-energized (Normally Closed). Depending on flow rate and fluid the C5I valve allows a pressure drop of max. 5 to 40 bar (d). Together with Bronkhorst mass flow meters it offers possibilities to constitute a compact flow or pressure control loop.
